The first process, bringing your sails back into shape
The PRO-2 Sail Regeneration process targets an amelioration of a sails profile, strength, fabric structure and protective mechanisms. For this we combined a gentle chemical cleaning process followed by a regeneration treatment in several steps. There are no machines in the process and no mechanical cleaning steps that could weaken the actual condition of the sail cloth.
First pollutions and dirt are loosened in a chemical bath and rinsed off. Therefore, the sail will be rinsed manually, side for side, and flattened out in a hangar. The sail will then be dried the first time.
Regeneration & Strengthening
For the regeneration purpose, the sails receive a new special resin application. This will be applied to both sides of the sail, to penetrate fully into the fabric’s matrix. During the bonding process, the sail fabric’s tension will reappear for the major part. The sail will then be drying again within the bonding process.
Profile & Air Permeability
In line with most sophisticated textile engineering, our chemicals are applied for an almost fully impermeability and ameliorated profile. The sail will show an obvious measureable improvement compared to it’s condition before the treatment. The difference is impressive.
Please keep in mind that our treatments consists of a time-consuming manual process. The high season for cleaning and maintenance is from December until end of March. Deliveries in January and February can be expected to have the longest process time.
For this reason, please bring sails as early as possible, ideally directly after having your boat placed in winter storage.
